Cambelt change 1.0tsi 2018 Fabia

I see a lot of different answers to this question with my 2018 Fabia.  I contacted Skoda UK and was told the change period is 15 years or 180,000 miles.  Plus regular periodic checks on condition at service time.   Message to me said"I can confirm that there has been a recent update regarding the cam belt change interval for your vehicle.  It is now recommended to change the cam belt every 15 years or 180,000 miles.  However it is crucial to note that during rutine servicing , the cam belt should be inspected to ensure optimal condition and performance."   A bit of a get out clause maybe at the end.  Hope this helps.

Interesting reply, and slightly different from those with say 1.5tsi engines.

 

I suspect the "cambelt should be inspected to ensure...." part is because the 1.0tsi engines in particular have been known to have camshaft phaser bolts come undone and spill engine oil all over the cambelt. Easily checked when they whip off the top plastic timing cover.

You should have seen, perhaps towards the end of some threads that (VW) Skoda UK finally come clean about this IIRC 23 June(?) 2023 after specifying 5yrs/50K miles previously.  Too late for my wife's car, £429 at Dealership pricing.
