Enyaq, short list with model y lfp…

Hi all,

Got a restricted lease car list; nice problem to have.

choices boil down to

* enyaq 85 non x

* Tesla y lfp rwd

* ionic 5 77kWh rwd

Anyone significantly impressed or disappointed with/or during a change in ownership?

The cost is not that different, for us the Tesla network is still a bit of a plus. Just all the Musk bs puts us off supporting ‘him’. However, pragmatic enough to make the right choice as first time ev users.

Thanks in advance

Tesla for visits north of the border.   Public charging of others is becoming stupid price wise.  There is Tesla non Tesla though for Central belt or Aviemore.

Looked and test drove a few:

Enyaq vRS Coupé

Drove nice, but it’s quite a tall bulky car, make sure it has the HUD.

Kia EV6

Looks very nice, but no decent Matrix headlights (no distance with then)

Ioniq 5

Not as nice as the EV6

ID.3 Tour (77 kWh)

3 years into ownership and it’s a nice car.

ID.7

Very nice and loaded with toys, nice enough for me to order one!

More and more Tesla Superchargers are being open up to other brands and they are usually cheaper (but not cheap)

Around 50 pence a kWh is acceptable, but now 69 pence, 78 pence, 89 pence is just crazy for private drivers.  Even at 4.5 miles to a kWh so 10 kW giving 45 miles and 10x 78 pence £7.80.    that can be the reality of traveling and public charging.   A diesel can be cheaper.

Had a M3P Tesla, just couldn’t get on with it, wipers never worked no phone integration ie Apple CarPlay.

just lots of little things that niggled, then Lynz’s Enyaq arrived and it’s days were numbered, so now have two Enyaqs.

Interesting comment. Just thinking about an Enyaq, for a higher seating position. We have previously had a Kodiaq, and probably should have kept it! My wife has rheumatism, but finds our Jaguar XF too low. That said its a 300bhp diesel and has averaged 40mpg over 18k miles.

Well we have taken the plunge! Traded in wife's Octavia, and now have an ex demo iV80 ecoSuite with lots n lots of extras. Couldn't afford new, and didn't want to wait. Well impressed so far and now need to get a home charger installed.

Already with Octopus so will get an Ohme Pro, the same as our son. Hopefully he will be able to assist when necessary!

@ColinD late to this post (sorry) but I can say that having owned a Tesla Model 3 it was plagued with faults both software and physical build, their customer service is abysmal. I switched to an Enyaq 60 in 2021 and now have an 85 Edition. WIthout a shadow of a doubt the best car I have ever owned. I have a friend who got anEV6 in 2021 at the same time I got my ENyaq. He's had a host of electrical problems and they are ongoing to this day. I have numerous friends who have had Teslas and not one has had a fault free experience. Some are fanboys and love the cars but none has been fault free.

The Enyaq 85 is my 13th Skoda. The 60 had a broken droplink and the skoda badge projected by the puddle lights went wonky but that was it. And that was more faults than all my other Skodas combined.

Thanks all. We’re actually not much closer to ordering. Although do now have to do it.

the y is out due to musks antics of late. Who knows perhaps I’ll be sued for not buying it now we were so close to it.

the enjoy is the front runner now as ionic removed.

renault scenic is a very strong contender, however cabin ergonomics means swmbo is a long way from the screens. She’s not sure she likes that. It’s in the voice, “use the voice”, will provide a few chuckles.

frustratingly the byd seal excellence is an option, however it’s a saloon. Ford explorer too, comfortable but tiny boot, smaller than her current ford focus.

I don't see why anyone would buy the explorer, just an enyaq/ ID4 in disguise with a smaller boot
