Cam belt change & Service - seems quieter

Featured Replies

Just had my 60,000 mile service done together with MOT and got the cambelt and water pump done at the same time (

Know what you mean, my engine seems quieter and smoother...but the weird thing is...service was done on the Tuesday, MOT on the Wednesday, got the car back on Thursday to use, then the cambelt was changed on the Friday before I picked the car up on the Saturday.

Now, on Thursday it didn't seem any different. On Saturday, it was smoother and quieter. Not really sure why, but at least I can now hear myself think about it when I'm in the car... :D

Maybe the water pump and tensioners were getting a bit noisey, and now they ahve all been changed :)

On my old volvo, when the cambelt tensioner pullys started to wear out they would whine quite a bit. Maybe you noticed this?

Cheers guys - at least thats a few different things it could be. Must admit I was quite pleasantly surprised as I didn't expect any real change at all  ... other than being lighter in the wallet!
