New Octavia owner, errors showing for 5F infotainment

Recommended Posts

I'm  a new member of Briskoda having just picked up a MY16 Octavia at the weekend. It's technically my wifes but I love it already!

I have a couple of questions, I have VCDS, having previously had some other VAG cars and did a scan before purchase. A selection of faults as they had clearly never been cleared, some had occurred multiple years ago. Cleared them down and fortunately none have returned.

The only faults there are relate to 5F infotainment;

Browsing around the forum I found this post from @pab567

It suggests that my part number, 5Q0 035 874 C is for MY18. Is this likely to be a retrofit? If it is then thanks a lot to the previous owner as it's great! However I'd like to be able to clear the faults. Any suggestions form anyone gratefully received.

My initial guess would be that I need to go and change the long coding as some of the faults relate to features that aren't installed, such as the Telephone baseplate

Doing some more investigation I'm now pretty confident that this is a retrofit. Decoding the options list from the factory, shown on the sticker in the wheel well (or at least it used to be on Audis, not sure if they still put it there) and in the owners book it shows:

  • 7Q0 - Without navigation device
  • I8E - Standard radio

If anyone's interested I used the decoder here https://igorweb.org/equidec.aspx

Indeed, looks like a retrofit. Some faults are Ok in this case (15360768 - Component Protection). 1555 - Check Software Version Management  must be cleared using the procedure with checksum calculation. 2565 - GPS Antenna - is probably a result of using aftermarket GPS antenna and as long as GPS staellites are visible then it's OK. 3077 - Telephone baseplate - is a result of wrong coding - change to 03730101FF0000005111120400880A002F0108C6012005004E.  7199 - Function Restricted due to Missing Message(s) - is probably a result of incorrectly adjusted some adaptation channels but as your VCDS does not support UDS I can't give more details.

@pab567 Thanks very much, I'll see if I can clear down the errors with my VCDS and try and find someone local who has a newer cable with UDS support and can help me for a  beer or 2!!

@pab567Check software version management is now gone, I remember doing that after a software update on an old MMI system in another car, also the Telephone Baseplate error has gone with your new long coding, the long coding helper didn't seem to even offer the solution so I really appreciate your help. Just need a newer cable to track down the final errors....
