VW group engines (1.4 petrol BCA)

Hi there,

I have a 2007 Octavia with the 1.4 75bhp engine. I may have worn piston rings, so rather than going down the route of engine rebuild which is very expensive, I'm looking into just swapping the engine. It seems the same engine is in various other VW cars, but I'm wondering if I get one from say a golf, would the mountings all be the same. All I need is the block as everything else is functioning fine, but is it as simple as getting one from any VW or should I be looking for one from an Octavia?
