Lock actuator from 8 to 6 pin

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm just wondering if you can change a door lock actuator from a 8 pin to a 6 pin as my spare one is a 8 pin 🤬. Have ordered a 6 pin so just wondering if to try to change spare to a 6 pin & keep as a spare.

Thanks

Ewan

those extra pins are for the physical key insert (two adittional buttons inide for when you turn the key left or right) but nut sure if you can replace it, what are your symptoms of the lock that is currently mounted on the car ?

I could not get rear door open, I have the lock replaced now, the 8 pin one will do as a spare for if/when the front lock goes. The 8 pin and 6 pin connector are different anyway so would not have worked anyway.

Thanks again

that happened to me, anyway what i did is cut the little part of the housing of the lock (in one of random incidents door did open so i managed to remove the screws and cardboard plating ) and sprayed wd40 in the electric area of the lock that somehow got the door to open and then i removed the lock from the door and opened electrical part and removed the motor (brushed motor) and cleaned the comutator of that motor and everything inside ( you need to pry a little the metalic housing of that little motor) once cleaned the ohm resistance was less than 4 ohms which indicates completly renowed dc brushed motor, now 5 years later it's still operating like new (althou had to close the cutting of the housing with some hot glue )

Thanks Boris, will open up one of the motors see if there is much dirt in one of the locks I'm using for spare parts.

I have been putting window down then trying to push panel off from the top of door then down the sides so the clips come off from panel to door to get at the lock then just braking lock so I can get door open to replace lock.
