New Head Unit no sound from speakers

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just picked up a new to me 07 Octavia VRS tfsi (absolutely love it). There is a cheap android head unit in it and there’s no sound coming from the speakers, I have another head unit that I also plugged in and the same issue occurs. I’ve tried configuring the canbus in the settings to suit my car but still there isn’t any sound. I plugged in my obdeleven and the fault code 01305 and 00463 came up. Do I need to get an aftermarket amp or a different head unit for sound to work? I’ll be picking up a standard radio from a scrapyard just to make do for the moment as it’s a pain to drive around with no music at the moment.
Thanks very much in advance

LQ

Just a suggestion and I'm not sure with your vehicle, but does it have a separate amp?, if so have a look under the seats as I think if it has it may be under there.

There is an amp under the passenger yeah, would I need a new one of them?

I suspect the Android head unit has an amplifier in it and speaker output connectors.

If this is the case the amplifier under the seat needs to be disconnected and the speaker connections run to the output of the head unit.

I believe that you can buy an wiring adaptor the original stereo would only have a low line out to the amp, have a look on eBay also try a search on here as I'm sure its been posted before.

If you get one from the scrap yard it will have to be the same as the original one that was fitted also it will be coded so make sure you get the code as well.

Don't  know how my other post got there twice lol.

I went to the scrapyard and I found an original off a standard Octavia (found the code too) I plugged it all in but there wasn’t any sound. I believe this is because the car I took it from did not have an amp. Would I be able to take a rns 510 unit out of any of the vag series and just plug and play it?

I’ve completely given up on the head unit. I’m just gonna look for any radio that will connect with the amp, the standard Octavia radio didn’t connect to it at all even after putting in the code. I’m presuming this is because the car I took the radio from the scrapyard did not have an amp.
