I have a Skoda Karoq 2020. A few days ago the EMC warning light came on. Last night I booked car into Halfords garage for a diagnostic check to see what the error code/s might be - this morning as I was about to set off to the garage, noticed the warning light had disappeared - but I took it in anyway because I'd already paid £25 online. They've sent me a couple of screenshots from a Health Report showing error codes (attached).

This is the first time I've looked at a diagnostic report so my first question is - am I right in thinking the ones that say Passive/Sporadic are historical whereas the Active/Static  ones are current faults? 

Secondly - the P04F000 EVAP system looks like probably the most important one to me - something to do with vehicle emissions I gather (from Googling it). Maybe just one to keep an eye on and take it to the dealer if it comes back?  

I think my third question is - what's the easiest way to get this sort of diagnostic information out of the car for myself?  Is it worth buying an OBD2 scanner and can anybody recommend one they've used with a Karoq?

Did they clear any / all the codes for you?

 

Do you fill the fuel tank right up to the brim?

I don't think they cleared the codes - not sure, the mechanic didn't say..yes I do typically fill the fuel tank up to the max, is that a possible cause?

What engines does your Karoq have. 

 

Was the Mechanic or was that a Technician or a Fitter able to actually diagnose anything or suggest a resolution, or do they need a machine to tell them and it didn't?

Hello - my car is the 1.0 litre petrol engine model (sorry should probably have said that, it's my first post!)

tbh I only asked them to do the diagnostic check and tell me what they found (it's a fixed-price service Halfords offer)...my original plan was to ask them to look into it further, if the diags showed up anything serious/current...

They did suggest that the component that generated the fault (if there is a fault) might still be under warranty so I should perhaps phone Skoda. The warranty on the car expired last year though so I don't see how that would be an option (or is is the case that certain parts have a longer warranty?)

Since it is a 1.0 TSI and now 4 years old or getting on for that it might be relevant that the spark plugs might need looking at.

Just from a recent thread on a low mileage 1.0 TSI at 4 years old.

Advise is to stop filling at the first click of the pump.

 

No warning light now then?
