Ea888 intake hose

Featured Replies

Hi all,

bought a silicone intake hose a little while back but waiting for warranty to expire. Now that has, I was looking to swap but have noticed the following pipe spur into the bottom of it that isn’t on the replacement. Is it a sump breather? I can’t see facility to plug it into any replacements so what do people do with it?

Based on your engine cover you have an EA888 gen 4 engine, chances are the intake pipe you purchased is for a gen 3 engine and id assume it is different to your gen 4 engine.

The Gen 3 has a spur on the top side of the plastic elbow that goes into the turbo, this looks specific to the gen4, possibly a SAI system or a breather for the engine would be my guess.

Yeah that looks like it AS. None of the suppliers I can see mention the gen4 until I spotted reference to the Mk8 golfs.
Cheers for confirming.

@ApertureS @Breezy_Pete @MartiniB this hose I've pointed to, it seems in swapping over to a Forge induction hose, I've broken one of the clips and it doesn't stay connected; as the most techy people I can think of on here, do any of you know what to order for a replacement. It runs round the front of the block and looks like it T's into somewhere and then I lose it. Even its just the end piece with the clips I'd be happy with that...

Seem to have found its from the Diverter Valve - guess that's why I get the dump valve whoosh...

Solved with a coupe of self-tappers into it; bit of a bodge but its holding fast against any boost pressure and still removable should it be needed. £165 savings...and also, looking at the other end of the pipe on the DV, it would be a pig to change!
