Cold air coming in when Ac/ CC off

Featured Replies

I've a 2011 2.0tdi elegance on 110k and as above really, When I have my CC off and I'm driving I notice cold air coming in through all vents, especially bad at motorway speeds, CC works fine in all other aspects, any ideas what's wrong with her?

Nobody?

"Cold air"

What temperature was the outside ambient air?

What temperature did you have the CC set to?

AFAIK you cannot turn the Climate Control off, only the AC refrigeration and drying component of it and even then it is not actually off but pumping a very slight amount of refrigerant.

My non CC vehicle under certain heat settings provides much cooler ambient air from the dashboard vents compared to the footwell vents.

The problem, if indeed there is one, maybe with one of the temperature sensors in the ventilator or screen ducts.

@SuperBmE  Welcome.

What temperature did you want the interior to get to, with no Climate Control  on?

and if there are vents open the temperature outside is going to be what comes into the vehicle if it is not getting heated.

Or am i missing something?

There is a fresh air input into all car climate control systems from the outside which will take in more air at speed. If you really want you could seal yourself in by pressing the recirculation button - You might start steaming up though and air will get stale.

I suspect there isn't a problem - when climate control sensors etc won't be in use.

I'm not sure if I've explained it properly, I've owned 15+ cars and I've never had this in any other car on the mway, I assumed when Ac/CC is off then a flap or some such would close, but the Superb seems to be freezing on the mway.

Is it ok if climate control is on ?

I'm pretty sure it cannot be turned off, I dont have it on my current vehicle but on the ones before the only option was a switch with AC and MAN settings IIRC.

Scan with VCDS.  My Superb 2 had the servo that drives the recirculate flap fail in an open poisition (actually the feedback part of the servo failed, not the motor).  This meant that the outside air was selected 50% all the time.  This was visible in VCDS as follows:

I've noticed that when the car is switched off, it closes the recirculate flap (i.e. selects inside only air).  I assume when the Climatronic is set to off the same thing happens, but I've never looked.

My theory there is:

- If selecting Clima off closes the outside air flap, and

- Yours isn't working, then

- You're getting outside air all the time
