PHEV service intervals

Featured Replies

Does anyone know why service intervals are every 10k miles for the PHEV?

Because the engine might not run that often or get to an efficient temperature.

It is not 10,000 miles, it is a fixed Oil & Filter service regime so 9,4000 miles or 12 months.  (372 days actually)

VW has it as 9,300 miles.  I even read 8,000 miles in one VW Service schedule.

Here 9,000 miles, VW PHEV,s.   UK>

Passat GTE,  Golf GTE.

I went to my dealer for the second service yesterday only to find my car is now on the "long life" plan because I do so many miles, so still have another 7000 miles to go. Apparently it's every 18k on the long life. But the didn't set the service reminder to the correct number of miles last time and the guy I booked the service with didn't notice either.

Kind of annoying as I got up at 7am on a Saturday for it.

@mccririck  You really best check that is correct for a PHEV with a 1.4 TSI.

It is true for an ICE only vehicle.   The reason to have the Service Manager or the Master tech check is for the terms of the Warranty.

If a lease car and you do not care then just leave it, as you should have a record of who serviced the car and signed it off.

PS.

If they say Variable / Flexible Oil & Filter changes are ok then it is 18,000-20,000 miles or 24 months, not strictly 18,000.

I average about 25k miles a year that's why I said 18k and ignored the time interval. I will check as I'm not totally convinced they are right.

If you are averaging 500 miles a week you must be doing plenty miles with the engine running so the Long Life oil and the high miles should be  just like running as an ice only.

?

Do you have a full or near full battery  at the start of each days driving?

No I'm using it like a normal hybrid, not plugging it in at all. So the battery is usually at 3 miles as I have it in sport mode usually.
