Octavia MK1 radio wiring

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have an aftermarket Kenwood in my Octavia but it's switches off completely and resets whenever I switch the ignition off, along with all the trip computers and the rest of the dashboard.

I found some threads referring to this issue, but I am not great with electrics, most of it makes no sense to me. Could anybody please simplify the explanation of what might be wrong or which wire might be connected badly or wrongly?

Most likely you need to swap the ignition and non-ignition wires to the radio, usually these are red and yellow.

Excellent thank you that seems to have done most of the trick!

I still have no consistent power to the trip computer and clock, am I now down to having a dry joint behind the dash somewhere? I'm hoping it's just another wire. I did notice a thin blue wire that had become detached at the back of the head unit...
