Wife came back from Aldi the other day to say she had touched the bumper on a post and scratched the paint.

 

On closer inspection it has pushed the headlamp unit back and broken at least one of the mountings…….. expensive bump.

 

Toying with doing it myself so some questions

 

- how much is a headlamp unit for a ‘23 SEL Karok?

- how easy is taking the number off?

Further questions; has "She" bent:-

1. The crash bar under the bumper?
2. The headlight mounting plate?
3. The inner wing?

Not sure, the lamp assembly has moved about 1/4”.  Started raining yesterday when I was looking so will have a closer look tonight.

The mountings can somethimes be plastic welded back on - I shudder to think how much the headlamp unit will cost.

There may be screw-on headlight mointing brackets available. 

The impact was about 6” in from the side of the car so nothing substantial.  The rear mounting is broken but no sign of damage elsewhere and loosening the fixings has allowed me to push it back into place.

 

Headlamp unit is around £200 and paintwork will probably be £2-300 using someone like chips away so will get a price for getting it done.

On certain models or types of headlight units you can obtain repair brackets for the headlight fixings.

I had a similar car park scrape in my Mazda, the bumper was pushed in slightly against the headlight. Upon removing the bumper for repair they found a cracked mounting bracket on the headlight, they plastic welded it back together.
