Noise from floor - trapped stone?

Featured Replies

There is an annoying noise from under my Karoq floor. It sound like a stone is trapped between the metal floor and the underfloor cladding, so that when I go around a corner, or accelerate or brake sharply then I can hear it rolling around. I've lived with this for quite a while but it's now getting irritating. The underfloor cladding appears to be held on by some plastic nuts (see photograph). Any idea on how to remove them without breaking them? Indeed, any hints on how to remove the underfloor cladding?

Next project is to track down the dashboard resonance at about 2,000 rpm, but one noise at a time......!

A 10mm socket does the job.  The nuts are plastic and should stay in place on the undertray because of the lugs.

While I remember, on mine at least, one of the plastic nuts is smaller than the others which means it isn't retained on the undertray.  I guess that's so that you have one hole available to get the panel located onto the bolts on refitting, rather than having to guess whether everything is in the right place.

Also could be a stone or similar that’s entered the rear heating ducts under the front seats.
