DSG DQ381 slow shifting

Featured Replies

Hi group, does anyone have any idea why the dsg dq 381 shifts so slowly? DSG oil changed at 60,000 km. Octavia 3 rs challenge 2.0 tsi 180kw.

Has it been faster in the past?

Yes, Then the authorized service made adaptations and they now rank it like this.

Was it your choice to have it done early at 60,000 km earger than the 129,000 km that the schedule is at?

Did they change the filter and use the correct oil?

You would expect they would.. But sadly not guaranteed.

120,000 is an awful lot even according to my tribotechnician. so i had the oil changed earlier. The oil was changed by an authorized Skoda service. Anyway, I want to get the oil checked.

It is too long, but VW Group are not changing that yet, but there are lots of failures, even before 60,000 km and the MCU.

?

What was the 'Adaption about'  was this after the servicing was done, maybe incorrectly.

All good having stuff done early, but not if they mess up doing it.

Is this launch control start?

Why did the service perform adaptation? Did you have any complaints?

Well, without launch control.  there was a complaint about gross subordination in the 4 to 3 sport mode.

From the video, it looks like you are spanking the car (foot flat to floor). It sounds like the clutch are trying not to cook themselves and I suspect a firmware update has been done on the DQ381 (to ease the speed of the gearbox to match the engine speed). I would agree that 80k miles/132k kilometres is too much between fluid changes. It might well be the adaptions still need to match up to your driving style (this can take a while). I would also recommend that you change the accelerator mode to Audi mode (linear) to stop the gearbox fighting with the logarithmic VW/Skoda profile.

How does DSG actually work during shifting?  Does the ECU tell me which gear to shift and the ECU cuts off the ignition for hundredths of a second?  It is so?  It just feels like a manual transmission going wild without releasing the throttle pedal.

Sorry no idea what you are doing, are you manual shifting.

When all is well in D and boot it or in S and boot it.

Okay. It is worth learning how the DSG gearbox works. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/107959/dsg-what-is-a-direct-shift-gearbox-and-how-do-they-work

That's a very general description that I know of course. I'm more interested in whether the throttle closes the throttle when shifting, or disconnects the injection, etc.

The control unit change the gear at the optimum revs no need to adjust throttle

In top gear Hammond did it with a manual gearbox  with a broken clutch

You get a torque reduction during normal shift (usually ignition retard, but can be other ways as well). During lc dsg is using amax mode when clutches are being used for rpm match.

In general Dq381 from stock is smooth, but doesn't have the snappy feeling like Dq250. That's just the way it is. If you keep pushing it, it should become quicker. Cvt feels like crap because it's completely smooth.

One point I didn't mention earlier. When you had your DSG fluid and filter change, did they do it right? I've seen boxes overfilled (because people neglect to drain off the excess at 32-36C). Check the pressures in the gearbox, make sure the pump is not over or under delivering of fluid to the clutch pressure plates). You will see a requested pressure and a actual pressure. Make sure they are similar. Drive around normally, see what the gear changes are doing. You'll need a ODBELEVEN to check the pressures.

That would make sense. After the adaptation, no one told me what it is and how to drive. the adaptation was done at 55,000 km and I drove it all the time in the city at max 3,000 rpm very smoothly. So it looks like I taught him laziness. So make adaptations and ride a pig, let him learn the fast style.

Jeden bod, který jsem dříve nezmínil. Když jsi nechal vyměnit kapalinu a filtr DSG, udělali to správně? Uvidíte požadovaný tlak a skutečný tlak. Ujistěte se, že jsou podobné. Jezděte normálně, sledujte, co dělá řazení. Ke kontrole tlaků budete potřebovat ODBELEVEN.

On Tuesday I go to the authorized service center where they changed the oil and I have an appointment for an oil check and complete adaptation. I'll let you know what changed.

It is true that the first thing many people who work with cars tell me is too good or too little oil.

They need VCDS as a minimum to do the adaptions.

K úpravám potřebují minimálně VCDS.

In the authorized service center, I assume that they have everything necessary.

All the gear and no idea can be the issue. That is the service staff not the DQ381.   How much was the DSG service and is there a filter on the invoice?

Problémem může být veškeré vybavení a žádný nápad. To je servisní personál, ne DQ381. Kolik stála služba DSG a je na faktuře nějaký filtr?

just that according to the invoice they replaced the filter. I will deal with them and insist on a replacement.

Update, They found nothing wrong with the dsg, correct oil level, they did an adaptation but everything is still the same. I'll go to a transmission specialist. This is a thing I noticed. When I release a little pressure on the gas pedal during the shift, the dsg shifts quickly as it should. I don't understand where the problem is.

Hi I have a golf 5 GTI with a dq25p doing this exact thing, did you find out what was the problem? Thank you! @Norwil1990
