LPG/EGR swap piccies - Race Pipe!

Featured Replies

Here's some pics today of my EGR replacing "race pipe" fit, and thanks to this pipe and its own boost tap, the LPG is finally working..... (although not as well as I'd have hoped - more tweakage required somewhere I think. ;)) Enjoy.

Where's my bend gone? Some c.h.a.v has nicked it! Oh, it was me. :o

Comparison of my butchered oem bend, and my new silicone bend going in its place. :)

New EGR replacing race pipe, alongside the old butchered bend. :)

EGR has gone!

First job was a blanking off plate sealed with exhaust paste. Next time the car is on a ramp I'll remove the whole pipe from underneath, but for today it was impractical to get in on the ramp. An annoyingly stubborn TVR was hogging it. :D

Comparison of EGR and race pipe for bore/restriction. Are fairly similar in bore, only the EGR has that bit going down and the flap in the way.

Ahem, another shot of the empty inlet manifold and capped off EGR pipe.

New race pipe bolted in place and the silicone bend attached. Turned out the bolt I bought needed to have a twin brother brought too. and the pipe specialist is only open Mon-Fri. :( So a normal jubilee clip was used there.... should be OK eventually (blew that pipe off there 10 secons into first test run before doing it up a little bit tighter still)

LPG system still not fully secured - job for later. We were applying boost to the pipe hanging of the fuel rails, and listening for gas comin out the left side of the powershot regulator. (that black pipe with the clip round it usually is attached to it) PSSSSHHHHHHHHTTTT! :D

LPG tank in the boot. NOS sticker put it to fool ch4vs at local motorshow the other weekend. Left it on for a giggle (note little one on red regulator above as well. ;))

View of the filler cap from behind the material in the boot. The cable with the padding around it is the filler cap cable which everyone seems to have pop out, and don't know where to find it to put it back themselves. :)

Thanks for the pics Jason, will try to post some of mine soon too :)

Thing i dont get is why your fitting new parts when you have a problem you need to sort with the noise from the n/s.

If you mean the thing I went on about earlier, this lpg was fitted before that noise started today. After my mate listened to it today, he can feel air rushing up from behind the inlet manifold so suspects something's wrong with the blanked off EGR pipe that was sealed shut with exhaust paste and bolts, or the exhaust manifold has blown. The latter is more believable.

Well that would make sense then.

Didnt you become sus after it started making funny noises after you had fitted the pipe..lol.

At some point you are going to have to stop for the safety of your health. Mind you i'm glad i got to see Devon before you level it.

hehe - it was fine for 24 hours or so after fitting, so I was none the wiser. I guess its possible that marginally higher EGTs caused by the LPG has blown the exhaust manifold. Wonder if there's such a thing as a performance gasket?

I would have thought its the EGR pipe you haveblocked off is leaking.
