1.2tsi vs 1.0tsi

Featured Replies

Hi guys, new here.

I was looking into getting a fabia for myself, was mostly looking into 2016 1.2tsi, but recently got offered a 2018 1.0tsi one.

Mileage is less than 60k.

I was wondering what are the main differences and which one would you recommend?

Hi, welcome.

Others might be along soon with answers but in the meantime there are a few threads and posts on this forum on this subject if you want to use the 'Search' top right corner of page, you can also use the down triangle box on the right of the Search to see drop down menu to use "This Forum" instead of "This Topic" or just the off-site Google or other search.

My wife owns a 2015 1.2 TSI (4 pot) 90 and I would suggest always looing at a Toyota or Honda instead but as you can guess I would be quite unusual here with that view (well expressing it anyway).

HTH.

Good luck in the meantime.

ETA: what I would suggest is downloading the free VWSkoda pdf copy of the relevant year and reading it to learn a lot about the car 1.2 or 1.0. - https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models

And here are some useful vids. -

I would also look at how much you are going to use the car bearing in mind the 2016 will be £20 road tax as where the 2018 will be £140

I think more like £190.00 this year.

I have had a 2016 1.2 TSI from new.

Now up to 84K miles and no complaints with this engine.

I have driven several cars with the 1.0 TSI engine in them.

Holiday rental VW Polo, for over 1k miles amongst others.

1.2 is a four cylinder and the 1.0 is a three cylinder.

If you have never driven either one before then both are very similar.

Most people would hardly tell the difference.

I would be happy with either engine.

I would be more interested in the rest of the car and it's history / condition.

Thanks. AG Falco
