Octavia Scout 2011 vibrations.

Featured Replies

Hi. I have a scout 1.8 tsi (150000 km) and it suddenly started to vibrate a lot when driving up hills and accelerate. Not from the steering wheel.

Changed the back hardydisc as it was really bad. Did not help, the vibrations are still there.

Most on higher gears when and as soon as I release gas or engage the clutch its gone. Running it on no gear does not vibrate. No faultcodes, no missfore and no extra oil consumption from engine. It runs fine.

All wheels are new and all bushings feels good.

The deriveshafts feels good.

What can it be?

TIA

There's another flexible doughnut coupling at the front near the gearbox.  Did you check that?

Inspected and looked fine. Not changed.

Tryed it today to find out what is is and now I got missfire on cyl 3.

Had missfire on cyl 1 last year and got a new spark module.

Maybe it will fix the vibrations.

It missfires on low rpm and driving uphill on 4-6 gear and accelerating. Now I have something to try.

Remember the vibrations from limp mode last year but did not have any faultcodes this time before now.

Hey @blafot, I have the same issue with my 2010 2.0 TDI. Slightly noticeable in 5th gear, and very noticeable in 6th. Did you find out what was causing it?

Hi.

Yes. I thought it was the hardy disc and it was really bad but it was not the problem. Then i changed the sparkplugs and the spark module and it did not fix the problems.

I did a compression test and there was no compression at all on cylinder 3. Maybe it was carbon om the rings so I did a WD40 clean but no luck.

After a lot of searching I had to decide how to take next step.

Change the engine or repair.

Found a shop far from here that specialized on this engines and right now my engine is taken out to be shipped 1000km to the repair shop for repair and it seems to be cheaper than putting in a used engine.

They think its a stuck valve. Everything has to be ripped out.

Now chain, now pensioner, totally cleaned engine, now upgraded rings, balance axles, bearings etc.

Not cheap but... Trash this one and get a new used car and have to fix a lot on that car... Hm...

Its only 150000 km. Should last a bit if totally fixed. Lets see. Time will tell.

My problem is the TSI engine and the weak points in EA888 engine.

Great, thanks. I hope it's not this serious for me... Good luck with your repair! I think it's worth fixing, best car ever.
