Hi,  I'm looking at buying a 2020 first edition Octavia (1.5 tsi hatchback), the cars only got 23k miles on it and the Skoda dealer selling it just told me they've replaced the front lower suspension arms and rear bushes as they're worn.

This has raised a red flag to me as I wouldn't have expected a car of this age and mileage to need anything doing to it suspension wise for quite sometime.

Has anyone on here had similar? is suspension on these prone to premature wear?

The car you're looking at is about half the mileage of my estate (44k miles) on which the suspension is fine. I tend to do long journeys pretty well loaded up (two people and a full boot for the vast majority of that mileage).

I have no concerns in that respect.

 

As you're looking at a 2020 FE, insist the dealer does all the software updates available.

Mine is 32K miles on a 70 plate SEL estate. No issues at all, passed the last service with no suspension issues, sounds very odd to me. Previous owner liked speeding over speed bumps?!?

If they use the same suspension as previous model the bushes are likely to start peeling away from the bonding. They can still last long in that state. Most likely they did it as a precaution incase you came back and complained.
