Cold air coming up from floor

Featured Replies

I hesitate to ask anything more but am hoping someone can shed some light on it (?). I've only noticed it just the past few weeks . .because I am in the drivers seat more  lately I noticed frigid air coming in along the side of the seat. Not on the other side  but it comes out of the slit where the seat belt is. As I mentioned in another post I only have heat coming from the top RH vent now but the coldness of this air  would have to be aircon related. I now cover it .I have this glorious heat coming along the door  and then I have this really really cold air coming up virtually from the floor. I know it is not a fuse but one of you tech guys could probably suggest something. Then I can ring Skoda 2 hours away and book it in. ...  At the present time it is our coldest winter in 5  yrs.  Thnx Jemm.

Do you have the "Big Box" type armrest?

There is a lever inside which if pulled allows max refrigerated AC air to flow through it to cool drinks etc on higher spec vehicles.

Mmm............ now I am beginning to doubt myself, the glovebox definitely has one, I'm sure my previous Octavias had one on the transmission tunnel but was the big box big enough for drinks cans? I cant recall, maybe it cooled the cupholders.

In either case it would fit with what you are observing, perhaps the ducting has become disconnected?

Is this the one that slides forward? No I pulled everything out of it and no lever. It is big enough for a normal can or 2  Red Bulls -

Sitting in the yard not moving will never get the water temp up, you need to be driving for the temp to rise and you say its very cold that will make it worse

(by observation). Thanku . Will check out the glove box. And where do I find the transmission tunnel ? Just asking.!

I have barely any recollection, it may have been a pull ring handle in front of and to the right of the handbrake.

Whilst my current vehicle has AC it is poverty spec without Climatronic, it may have the glovebox cooling system, it's not something I would use but did not have the Big Box armrest so I cannot look for you, hopefully someone else will advise.

I believe that the ducting is in place even if the optional equipment is not fitted, it runs in exactly the place you describe the cold air coming from so I reckon the end has not been plugged.

One thing you could do to prove the @J.R. theory is to put the fan speed to max and close all the other vents and see if the flow of cold air gets worse.

Which HVAC system do you have? I'm not sure if the Octavia ever came with 3 Zone climate but if you have, check the rear zone is in sync with the front 2 zones. I imagine if the rear was set cold you would feel the cold air from the rear footwell vents that are under the front seats.

The opposite happenned to me a few years ago in the middle of summer, had the front blasting cool air and kept getting a woft of warm air and the kids had put the rear temperature up to 28 Degrees!

When I first got this car a year ago, the heater in the front under the screen  was lovely. And one day it just stopped working and only blew out cold air. The only place I have heat is the top RH vent above the steering wheel and next to the door. Sometimes when I am parked and it is cold I just lean against  the door and let the warm air blow over my face. Beautiful  !

Just a codis to all this....the cold air that is not plugged .... does that come from outside ? I ask because my car is never open for long yet I have been bitten by  something that has scuttled under the seat . Considering the car was fully detailed before I got it back in late March there should be nothing alive in my car except me. Am going to spray my car today and close it up for an hour or so. If I close that place the seatbelt is bolted to will it do anything within the car itself ? Or does it  have to be  left open ?
