Skoda Epiq when is it likely to be on sale

Featured Replies

As someone who has had 6 Skodas, including two L&K spec Octavia, looking to change car in a few months.

Now newly retired, no longer doing runs to/from university with lots of stuff, so want something small, but like a few creature comforts.  With Skoda now need to buy a bulky car for high spec (and some of our local towns have old stone walls making them bit narrow in places so don't want fat car)

Dont really like the Fabia 4, to me it is over priced and seems to be spec'd more as a mobile office than a comfortable small car, so misses things we like, but includes lots of irrelevant (to us) things.

Like the look of new Epiq, but just says vague launch date of 2025, does that mean be able to buy one within a year, or will it be good part of two years before on the road.

Trying to work out if it is worth waiting, or if we would be better going for another brand coming soon, eg Hyundai Inster or Kia EV2, Volkswagen ID2  etc.

Elroc orders are expected to open Autumn this year, I'd expect Epiq to be Autumn 2025.  But that's just a guess based on how Skoda usually role models out.

I'm also looking at the Epiq as a potential replacement for our '22 FL Hyundai Kona EV.

We had a Karoq for a couple of years which I liked a lot but my wife found it too big for her as her daily driver. We started looking at EV's but at the time Skoda had nothing other than the Enyaq which was way too big.  In the end we landed up with a 1 year old 64kWh Kona which is a bit of a Goldilocks car (not to big or too small) & just the right size for what she needs. However, the Kona is not without its faults chief among which for me is the ride quality which is very choppy on anything than a smooth surface. Front wheel tyre scrabble (205bhp) is also a problem which has resulted in excessive front tyre wear. New front boots are going on this week after only 12,000 miles. Boot space is a bit on the small side as well. Other than that it's been a great car & has saved us a packet on petrol (home charging only) & easily does 300miles on a full charge.

The Elroq has now been launched & although I haven't seen one in the flesh having seen the latest reviews on YT it looks too big for what we need. So I'm now eagerly awaiting more info on the Epiq. I'm hoping it inherits the driving qualities & rear wheel drive of the Elroq. That said it looks that the range of the Epiq will be somewhat less than our Kona.

The only snag for me is that I don't normally buy new cars so we may have to wait even longer until Epiq's hit the 2nd hand market.

After owning a Skoda City Go, 2 Fabias, 1 Yeti, 1 Octavia and 1 Kamiq, I moved over to Toyota and bought a Yaris Cross Hybrid 2 years ago.  All my Skodas were excellent cars but I just felt like a change and the Yaris Cross has also proved to be a very reliable model and pleasant car to drive.  The hybrid system is very clever but I feel that I’m now ready to move onto a fully electric car but the Toyota models are far too big for my needs.  The Epiq concept photos look very encouraging and it’s relatively small size and proposed low price has definitely wetted my appetite to look at Skoda again.  If Skoda don’t move too much from their concept photos and keep to their promises, I’ll be one of the first at the head of the queue when it’s released.
