electric tailgate partially opens

Featured Replies

Hello

I have had problems with my Octavia 2016.

The tailgate opens a short distance then it beeps and stops. If I press the door shut and try again, it usually works.

I suspect it has something to do with the lock. Had to change the locking part that is in the car (not in the door itself) the one that closes the door a while ago, so it may not be fully calibrated (how do you place the part at the right position?)

If I disconnect that part, the door works every time so the motors themselves work. Seems like it doesn't release the lock fast enough so it thinks something is in the way when opening.

Anyone recognize this and have any advice?

Purely as a guess, if similar logical thought has been used as on the door windows then you need to close the hatch with the switch or remote and keep holding the button down for a few seconds after it closes. Immediately repeat the process for the raise button and again hold for a few seconds.  This process will teach the logic of the stop positions

If that does not work then look at friction in all parts as maximum load is when the hatch is just before horizontal.
