Hi all

I'm a new user on this site as you guys seem to have a wealth of information.

I have a 62 plate Skoda rapid 1.6tdi.

To cut a long story short, I had some injector issues (snapped injector bolt) which also cracked the rocker cover. I have since replaced the rocker cover, reseated the injectors (used a seat cutter to ensure a good clean fit) replaced all O-rings/copper washers. Everything was fine until a few days ago when i started smelling exhaust fumes in the cabin.

On closer inspection the fumes appear to be coming out of the rocker cover by the fuel rail. Its clearly visible.

Any advice on where to go with this? I've replaced all the injector components (copper sealing washer and O-rings) again and the rocker cover gasket to no avail. No fumes are leaking from the injector seals.

Any help is very much greatly appreciated!

I found a potential problem. The thread for the injector bolts have stretched causing them to loosen overtime! And the rocker cover gasket had a tear. Will be fitting x2 helicoils and replacing the gasket. Fingers crossed it fixes the issue!

The Injector bolt are stretch bolts and should be replaced.

How did you diagnose the stretched hole threads?

It sounds like there might be an issue with the rocker cover seal or an improper fit around the injectors. Even though you've replaced the rocker cover gasket and injector components, fumes leaking from the rocker cover by the fuel rail could indicate that the rocker cover itself is not sealing correctly or there might be a problem with the surface where it mates with the cylinder head. Check for any warping or damage to the rocker cover and ensure it's properly torqued to the specified settings. Also, inspect the area around the injectors and fuel rail for any signs of exhaust gas escaping. If the issue persists, you might want to have a professional inspect the surface and the integrity of the rocker cover to ensure a proper seal and eliminate any potential gaps. I was running out of time to complete my assignment, so I decided to get help from https://ukwritings.com/assignment-service The service was fantastic! The assignment was clear, concise, and well-organized. The writer did a great job following my instructions, and the final product was delivered on time. It made a big difference in my workload, and I felt much more confident submitting my assignment. This service is definitely worth it!

Any update?

Injector well had a hairline crack. Had to use crack detector to find it. Just got rid of the car in the end. I replaced everything I could within a reasonable price bracket. But a cylinder head wasn't worth what the car is worth.
