Head unit swap ??

Featured Replies

New to the forum having just purchased a Skoda rapid 1.2tsi sport 2016

I'm wanting to put a different radio in one what has maps/Waze compatibility dab etc etc

I'll put a pic of my radio as I don't know what model it is

Is there a OEM with what I want on I can just swap over or is it best to get one of those cheap android units off temu or AliExpress

A friend has highly recommended the temu or AliExpress ones but I'm not sure ...and do I want to keep the originality of the car

Don't know if it helps but your current radio is 2nd generation Swing.

Is it a good system or just basic

Swing is the basic option. Lowest spec radio in the range.

I fitted a Sony Android Auto / Apple Carplay screen with DAB to mine. You will need the head unit installation kit too plus Skoda will sell you the plastic surround for a few pennies!

Cost of a decent floating screen starts from £200 from the cheap end to £1000+ so there is a solution for every budget. I spent £550 in the UK for the Sony.

Give your local PAC/Auto leads/ Connects2 supplier a ring for the car installation kit specifics. A fascia, can bus adaptor and fittings cost around £75. Not cheap but essential.
