Plastic inter cooler

Featured Replies

Hi All

i have a Škoda Octavia ambient 2002.  Best car I have ever had.  When I bought it it had 26k on the clock, it now has 352k!!.  Never let me down.
I am now looking for the hard plastic intercooler pipe(photo attached). Does anybody have one e for sale?   Any help would be gratefully received.

i have put the pointer on the part

Which engine do you have?

I think it’s the 1,9 but the lowest cc if that makes sense?  I don’t know much about mechanics.  I have attached a photo of number on windscreen

I don't have access to a VIN decoder, although @Breezy_Pete might be able to help if we haven't made progress before he sees the note.

Your engine code is included on the data sticker in your owner's handbook (if you still have it) or under the mat in your boot alongside the spare wheel well.

If your car is a diesel the most common variant is the 1.9 tdi, with an engine code like "ALH".

I’ve found this. Is this the info?IMG_5978.thumb.jpeg.5c79e8c33f23521d81bd5a682cc8bede.jpeg

So, your car is a 1.9tdi diesel 66kW with an ALH engine.  The parts diagram for the intercooler for an '02 ALH Octy is HERE, from which you should be able to identify the part in question and find its part number.  The same site may also be able to supply the part, or if not perhaps skoda-parts.com can help.  If used, there are several good breakers around north Manchester and Leeds areas (M62 corridor).

Mike you are a star.  The only thing I am confused about is the hard plastic bit?  Is that just a cover?  The link you kindly sent doesn’t show it.

I'm not clear which bit you are talking about now.  Your original piccie doesn't show a pointer - unless you mean the 'plus' sign in a circle?  Are you looking for a hose or a plastic moulded cover or duct?

Sorry yes I mean the plus sign and plastic cover. Sorry for confusion

As I was driving the pipe at the bottom came lose and the covering mover and came into contact with the belt next to it which created a hole in the plastic bit.  Would it help if I sent a photo of it?

A photo would be good.  If you can examine the part you should be able to find a part number on it somewhere.

OK, I'm puzzled.  Can you trace where the pipe comes from and goes to?  Wider view piccies may help.

What makes you think it's the intercooler plumbing?

I was told the name by my mechanic but it’s a bit confusing.  A pipe comes out the bottom left hand side and joined that plastic  cover at the bottom then the hard plastic covering which goes up the side of a belt. The grey gaffa tape is covering the split in the pipe which is the part I’m looking for.  I am pointing to where the gaffa tape is covering the split next to the fan belt.IMG_5983.thumb.jpeg.c73372b1d78305fc91c20c5848ed2fe3.jpegIMG_5981.thumb.jpeg.006bc73906daeb333eac17527f7804ca.jpegIMG_5982.thumb.jpeg.5f327fd13be76c826518481621f57303.jpeg

Ta for the extra piccies.  Our old mk1 is now with our son-in-law and some miles away from here so I can't just go and eyeball it, unfortunately.

I've asked the mods to move this thread to the Octy Mk1 forum where there are several people who should be able to help more.

I have to go out for a bit now but I'll check back later to see if you've made any progress.
