Spark plugs - NGK or Bosch?

Featured Replies

1.4, 150 TSI, CZDA. Thinking about getting replacement set of plugs shortly, favouring NGK over Bosch from long past experiences.

Looking at NGK PKER 7A8EGS / PZKER 7A8EGS - or alternative (possible upgrade?) IKER 7A8EGS. It appears that the upgrade? IKER has two side electrodes, and presumably iridium centre electrode.

Does anyone here have recommendations or suggestions?

Thanks.

I had mine changed at 50k km but really did not care what was fitted, leaving that decision in the dealer's 'capable' hands.

I did ask to see the old plugs that came off and quite honestly, they were pretty much like new, with very little wear or carbon deposits.

I suppose as the car is approaching 100k km (2014 model) I should consider getting new ones fitted during next year's annual service.

As long as the plugs are from a reputable brand and as specified for the engine then I'd be surprised if there was any noticeable performance difference between your options.

It isn't better performance I'm after - just the best, most reliable plug.

In the past, I have found significant differences in plug reliability, even from the same brand, depending on where they were manufactured. Defaulted to a preference for NGK - although I used Golden Lodge annular type on my Cooper S.
