Coding service reqd. For towbar and reverse camera - NW area

Featured Replies

As per the title really, I'm just finishing off installing a new towbar and electrics and a reverse camera too while I'm at it (I mean why not, the car was already in a million pieces lol) and will require coding once completed. I have no facility for that, and from looking on here SachaGrace seemed to be very knowledgeable but posts are a few years old now and not sure she's still about. I've found a towbar place who will code the bar, but they're not interested in helping with the camera so figured it's better to have someone do the lot at the same time

So, who in the Northwest has the capability? and what do you charge? How long will it take?

Don't mind travelling a bit, just trying to avoid huge distances

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Have you looked on the following and then see whose near you and current, most amateur member who might just want beer tokens, some professional so more required.   With anyone with a scan tool do check it is suitable for your model and year and that it is fully up to date with software updates particularly for your model and year. - Briskoda VCDS Owners Map (click me)

I don't know about phones but with PC/laptop hover your cursor over the posters name symbol thingy (I've no idea what it's called) and you will see when the poster last visited the site. -

Hi @nta16 yeah I have that list and started to "cold" message people in my area but after bothering a couple of people who said they couldn't help I wanted to try and throw the request out to the masses and try to get someone to contact me - otherwise I risked bothering everyone on the list via unnecessary PMs which I figured wouldn't be appreciated

It seems some people are more focused on tuning and things so my requirements weren't something they were comfortable with

Yeah I checked for Sasha but she hasn't been online for some time, I think she may have moved over to another car type/forum. So hoping there's someone on here with the necessary skills (I'm sure there is, it's just lining up with the right person) to be able to help

Cheers

Fair enough Michael, I should have put, if you haven't already done so, but I forgot.  I didn't realise a reversing camera would need coding but perhaps yours is more involved.  There are some professionals on the list so perhaps more used to these sorts of jobs.

If you're up to installing a tow bar and getting it working properly then perhaps you could treat yourself to a suitable scan tool for your job and others.

Hopefully the thread being active might attract someone's attention who can help you.  Cheers.

Assuming it's a OEM highline camera, the coding should be super easy. The folk doing the towbar coding should easily be able to do it...

I included it in my post when I retrofitted one:

Coding was super easy:

- Address 19, add 6C to the installation list

- Address 10, coding, tick byte 2 bit 4

- Address 5F, adaptions, change Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-VPS_0x0B to "activated"

- Address 5F, adaptions, change Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-VPS_0x0B_msg_bus to "Infotainment data bus"

All works just like a factory install with the various modes etc.

As expected, the only error code currently stored is "no basic settings" so I'll need to print out a VAS6350 board and calibrate it at some point :)
