Grrrrr , some git has taken a chunk out of one of my alloys

Featured Replies

Parked up in a car park earlier and as I had turned left into a space and not straightened up the wheels at the end theback of the front left wheel was stuck out a couple of inches , but still well inside the white lines.

When I got back there was a huge gouge taken out of this wheel where someone had driven into it. It's fairly shallow but over a very wide area.

Not sure if they had hit it with their wheel or a metal bumper but it was quite high up on the wheel and the scrapes are curved so it looks like either they ground against it or my wheel rotated as well.

The way it's curved they have driven into it coming from the parking space opposite , driving through the empty space next to mine.

In fact , looking at it there seems to be two sets of scratches so they may have hit it and then backed up doing more damage.

There's also the tiniest of marks on the wheel arch as well which wasn't there this morning. Gits.

Of course no note to say they were sorry.

What do you reckon on the chances of getting this repaired well for less than a new wheel?

I sympathise with you

Ive managed to have my front door and rear door of the furbie

dinted in two seperate car parks on the same day by other car users flapping their doors around like fans

Must be the hot weather

I think its about

Yeah, a man in a van can come to you and do it. Price is up to about 50 quid normally. Mixed reviews on how long the new laquer stays on but on the whole it will look 'as new'. Have you got an alloy spare wheel you could swap it with?

Ive asked a car autoshop chap about my door dints

and he advised me to stay well away from ''men in vans''

He says franchise and not knowing what they are doing

I had a scratch on my corsa bonnet and left it with ''a man with a van outside halfrauds''

A hour and

I think on the whole you are right. I would only use a man in a van for a tart up repair ready for sale - in fact I did this on the wheels for my scooby.

Wheel repair results can vary. On the BMW forum I am a member of, people have had wheels that are corroding weeks after the repair, and some are fine 18 mths later. Like most things in life - you pays ya money, you takes ya choice.

The spare is an alloy so I can pop that on and leave the manky one out of site.

Still , it's bloody annoying.
