Hello is there anyone out here ever suffered a turbo rotation like noise when in reverse while accelerating. So it sounds like a dry shaft spinning down or spinning up if I accelerate. This sounds similar to when I turn the car off only when I turn the car off its not as bad. This only happens in reverse accelerating or turning the car off. I spoke to a fitter at work and he mentioned it could be gearbox related he said service the box and see what happens what do you think of this. The car has around 80.000 miles on it.

 

Apologies in advance if this has already been spoken about but I don't know were or what to look for also new here to.

How long have you had the car, and is this a new noise if you have had it a good while?

 

Is it a manual gearbox?

What do you mean about the noise when you turn the car off?

 

Is this once you have been driving and the engine hot or up to temperature, or even if you just start the car cold and then reverse and turn off the engine? 

 

As far as turning off the TDI engine when hot is it a case of just the water pump / fans running on, or a regen happening.

 

When you reverse the Heater / Ventilation system flaps close automtatically,  are you hearing this different noise maybe?

Morning mate had the car maybe five month didn't hear the sound when I purchased it but then again i didn't reverse it. Manual gearbox yes and the sound when I turn the car off is like something is open and you can hear like a rotation noise that slows to a stop pretty fast almost like a dry throat lol sorry its really strange to explain. So the car is like this always but in reverse its almost like its had a decat you know that noise they give off loud exhaust sound but it's a standard car. I did think possible regen but it doesn't fit the bill the fans come on but thats a total different noise... its like something is spinning down to a stop its strange. Ermmm i would say the ventilation doesn't effect the noise either way mate. I was starting to look into possible egr or turbo but there's nothing to go on... the car runs really well I just hear it in reverse and on shut down reverse is far worse.
