Search these forums for the words "coil pack" and you'll see it is a very well documented failure.

You would probably have been asking has anyone with an Octy vRS NOT been affected by dodgy coil packs.

Mine is fine.... Touch wood, lucky rabbit foot, heather etc. etc.

I couldn't see any no.s on the coil packs when I replaced the spark plugs last weekend.

As a 52 that was serviced at a Skoda dealer when I bought it in December, is it likely to be affected?

OMG rainworth motors becareful dodgy dealer but thats my opinion

The coil packs should have been checked and replaced if necessary by the dealer at the first service after the Bulletin was issued a few years ago.

How can you tell if you have pre or post mod coil packs? p/n?

The G and H versions were the subject of a Technical Bulletin in 2003 calling for their (free) replacement with the L version. The J version was not affected by this Bulletin. The part number can be seen if you unclip the connector. Failing that, you might be able to work out which version is fitted by reference to this picture. The H version is the only one of the 3 which will have a slot visible on the side as fitted.
