Perhaps converting the original air-air SMIC to a water-jacketed system is the way to go....

An interesting fact is that water carries away 4x more heat than air. So if you made the OEM SMIC 4x more efficient, then it's better than a FMIC.

the water may absorb 4x the heat as air but it also has to get rid of heat at the same rate so probably no moe efficient than an air-air IC

most companies only go for charge coolers when they are limited with room or the engine is at the back of the car.
