Key fob battery low, replaced then stop/start error

Featured Replies

So got a car 3 weeks ago, covered 945 miles in it i have a 1000 miles guarantee to exchange if the garage cant fix any fault.

19th key battery low sign comes on for the key fob

20th key battery low sign as i forgot to change it, sports mode making high noise but put it into eco and back no problem.

New battery placed in key fob, used car no issue, went back to use car again says no key detected place near wallet. So I assumed it may of been too close to my faraway pouch.

21st error stop/start system.

I need to used the car this weekend but aren't go over the 1000 miles guarantee and the garage is shut.

Do you have any idea?

Phone them and tell them about the fault and mileage and take a picture as evidence and if they are decent people they should honor any repairs that were requried within the 1000 miles despite you going over that by the time you have chance to get it back to them

I will be taking a photo in the morning. It's only 1 year old so has another 2 years warrenty anyway. I can just get a full refund or even exchange if within 30 days if it's a major fault. But I'm leaning to think it's something minor. I am just wondering what people may think it is? I had no issue until the fob was saying battery low

Start by changing the key fob battery, scanning for fault codes may or may not give you more info as to what might be the problem with the start/stop. At this point anybody would be guessing

How do I scan for fault codes?

You would have to own or find somebody that owns some sort of OBD code reader that plugs into the car and reveals any stored error codes hopefully leading to a sucessful diagnosis of whatever is wrong.

At this point you have a warranty so you don't need to worry about that, just take it in and let them sort it.

Brilliant  thank you so would you just let it tick over the 1k mark and hope it isn't major?

Yes, drive it as normal. Does the stop/start error come up every journey?

No it's only come up that once which was yesterday. Not used it today but started it earlier to check
