Is this the ultimate tyre for Superbs in the UK climate?

Bridgestone Turanza 6 B-seal W (94)

With exceptions for people who have to be able to drive on the rare occasion that it’s snowy (so compromise wet grip for all seasons), and if you have the money, is there any reason not to get this tyre?

Econ: B, Wet: A, Noise: 67db, b-seal helps retain pressure when punctured.

Most summer tyres are rated around 70db for noise, and although a 1db difference is probably not noticeable, 3db is, and I’m assuming most Superb drivers would value that noise reduction over whatever track-ready responsiveness these tyres might lack.

There are no reviews on tyrereviews.com or blackcircles so I’d be interested to hear if others agree or if I’m missing something…

Can’t speak for those boots specifically, but I had Bridgestones out of the factory on my Fabia II Combi and they were not great. Didn’t  last very long. Lousy grip. Replace with Avon ZV7s, they were OK for noise and grip, but perished inside three years. Now on Goodyear Effecientgrip on the Fabia and they work well. Quiet, excellent grip, do well in the rain.

Currently have factory Michelin Primacy 4s on the Superb. Typical for Michelin they are not the quietest, but are hard wearing and good rain performance. When they are done I will go back to all-weather tyres like I had on my Rapid. Had Goodyear Vector 4seasons on that, which were great.

Noise: 67db

That's as registered outside the vehicle rather than inside the cabin. My previous Dunlop SportMaxx2s are listed between 68 - 70db and were quite noisy. Current Michelin CrossClimate 2s are listed as 69-71db and are MUCH quieter. Go figure!

Completely agree - Dunlop SportMaxx tyres are horrendously noisy - I had them as the factory boots on my Rapid and the sound was beyond belief. When I eventually switched to the Goodyears, the road noise drop off was incredible. Same more recently when I had a set of Goodyear EffecientGrips put on my Fabia II Combi. A significant reduction in road noise.

My 2.0tdi estate came with Cross Climate 1's which i didn't rate in the wet and when it came time to change them I was looking for something else. But the Cross Climate 2's came out and the reports were their wet handling is much improved, as is aquaplaning resistance.

I was glad I tried them, they're a great all around tyre but esppecially good int he cold/wet.

I'm a service engineer, driving between 20k - 50k miles per year, often on nightshift, driving cross country, here in cold/wet Scotland, so I am picky !

I had OE Pirelli P7’s on the 280 (they seem to’ve been the standard fit on early 280’s) and they were the noisiest tyres I can recall having on a car. I changed these 23 months ago for Conti All Season. Apart from being as good in terms of performance to the P7 in the dry, they’re much better in the wet and, the most noticeable difference is the silence; I estimate they’re at least 70% quieter. Oh, and after 9k there is barely any noticeable wear which makes them even better.
