Manual AC controls not working

Featured Replies

Hi, I’m new here, and I recently bought a used octavia 2015 with manual ac controls.

When I turn on the ac, it works on cold, and that’s it.

I can’t change it to heat (turning the wheel does nothing), and the same goes for direction, nothing change when I turn the wheel, and I believe the air circulation button is not working as well, since I used it and still smelled something from outside while driving.

the AC button itself is working, since after turning it off, the air temperature drops to normal.

could not find much stuff online, I found about resetting the ac but the is for the automatic controls I believe (mine attached below).

any help would appreciated, especially since the winter is very near now.

You have Climatic but it uses most of the same actuators as Climatronic.

Can you get heated air out of the system when AC is switched off?

Does the temperature control work when AC is off? I realise it wont cool the ambient air.

Does the direction control knob work with AC off?

As an aside the Climatic control knobs on my 2015 Yeti dont have the raised tactile grey plastic indicators that contrast against the chrome, it has a coloured dot which can only be seen if you lie your head flat against the handbrake, a chocolate teapot  I have had to put a dab of white paint on the side of each knob.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately non of them work even with the AC off, not even a sound when I turn the dials.😔

Do they illuminate at night?

Yes they do, does that mean it couldn’t be a loose connection?

Unlikely but it rules out the connector not being refitted following (possible) previous work behind the dashboard.

You should find someone to do a VCDS scan they will be able to test all the inputs to the HVAC module including the seemingly non working rotary controls and the outputs like the hot/cold air blending flaps.

The Climatronic has an internal temp sensor with a fan that draws air in over it, this can get blocked with fluff causing problems but I'm not sure if Climatic has that, VCDS will reveal any fault codes and test all the inputs and outputs.

I already got it tested, and there’s no fault codes what so ever, that what the mechanic said to me.

Could it be some issues with the fuses?

when I checked them there were a lot of them missing, checking the ac fuse and it was good.
