I’ve got the fully paid version of Carista and a new EFB battery. Carista offers a battery registration function in the service menu. Should this be acceptable to use or will it require VCDS??

If that's a script then it depends if you trust the script. Personally I prefer to make the changes manually.

 

If the battery is the same type and the same Ah capacity then in reality all you need to change is one digit of the serial number.
