Do the brake lights work?

From 2006 the handbrake switch is a hall effect sensor mounted underneath the master cylinder. It is very unlikely to be the cause of a flashing glow plug light.

A flashing Glow Plug light is very likely to be a faulty brake light switch. If you are lucky it's the one under the pedal. It's an easy fix. The other type is on the master cylinder.  Done it a few times on the Fabia and Octavia now.

2004 has a pedal mounted switch. 2010 is a hall effect on master cylinder as I said above.
