Rumbling engine sound

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what this rumbling sound is in the background? Sometimes its there, sometimes its not. Sometimes its loud. It disappears when the oil is warm. Its mostly there when leaving cold in the morning. But sometimes its also not. Its also there when releasing the clutch pedal without pressing the gas pedal in first gear, then its a more rhythmic thumping sound. It doesnt get any louder, and its not audible in higher gears or higher speeds.

Ive takes it to the mechanic and he said it might be the alternator having to give more power, maybe the battery is slowly dying. I have a dashcam in the car, and have forgotten multiple times to disconnect it, and it has drained it to near empty several times. Once, I had the low battery symbol and the rumbling sound was there really loudly.

A dashcam when plugged into the USB socket by the RVM should shut itself down, mine does. If it's hard wired in, it maybe different as it should have been tapped into a switched circuit.

I can't hear anything too much amiss with it TBQH

I have it in the OBD port. It shuts itself down when the battery gets too low, but maybe too low since ive gotten the low battery voltage notice on the dashboard.
