1.5tsi manual- idle speed

Featured Replies

Just wondering what the normal (warm engine) idle speed should be?

Mine seems high at 1000rpm after 600 miles fro  new, also getting the "almost stall" from standing starts - any updates on this?

Anyone able to check their idle speed please?

Unable to say for the 1.5TSI - but I'd be very surprised if it was supposed to be set significantly higher than the 600 - 750 rpm on my 1.4.

OK, mine is 1000rpm once warm. I'm sure that can't be correct. Got the almost stall from standstill when moving off as well.

Dealers tomorrow.

I checked mine when warm and it's 750rpm it's only 1000rpm when starting from cold

&that drop with TSI,s from 1,000-1,100 rpm or so to the 800 rpm or lower happens after 40 seconds.

The idle might well be higher with AC on and a load on the battery, or with a DSG when moved from D to S while at standstill.

As to the manual there is Anti-stall is there not?

No, it'd stall if I didn't rev it and slip clutch.

Was the 1.5 so-called 'Fix' usually more successful after a certain year?

The OP shows it as a 2024 car.

If the behaviour of the car makes it feel unsafe or like some vehicle from another era it needs to be into a Dealership to be checked out.

I asked because I'm not aware if the original 1.5TSI issues were ever properly addressed by VAG - rather like the continuing issues with the MkIV.

Left at dealers now, so they can start it from cold. Service reception said the 1000rpm is correct on the 1.5 manual. They think the knocking is also normal as there's a dealer video about it but will confirm.

The cut outs and almost stalling is the worrying bit for me - let's see what they say😬

@cycleliferob

Looking forward to seeing the video of the cars with faults Skoda are building and selling if shows knocking.

Service Reception staff might as well work in a Comedy Club.

Ask the beaut you spoke to what Motor Engineering qualifications they have, or anything other than a NVQ keyboard and communications skills.
