Sloshing fuel tank

Featured Replies

Hi,does anybody else have a problem with hearing their fuel tank sloshing about when braking ?

IIRC this was mentioned on here a few years ago as happening when the tank is about 3/4 full due to there not being any/enough baffles in the tank.

as warrior says Check your rear door seals ,pull em from bottom of door ,its usually that you can hear sloshing about ,they do hold a good amount of water if blocked ,i thought it was my fuel tank too ,if it is the doors give them a good wash and clean underneath too .

Just checked rear door, there was a substantial amount of water in it,could hear it sloshing about when I opened door, drained it off, thanks

That brought back some funny memories.

When I was 19 I used to get a lift home from work from someone with an old Metro. Their fuel gauge never worked so they used to listen for fuel sloshing when they pulled up at traffic lights.

If it didn't slosh they needed to get petrol . 👍
