VRS auxilery air pump replace or delete??

Featured Replies

I'd posted in another thread but it's maybe better starting a new one as looking advice from folk who've done this already.

Looking like this is away in my VRS, a genuine one is silly money.

Has anyone used a spurious part that was good or is it best to delete and remap?

Cheers in advance

A lot of people remove this as part of the simplified delete. @Bowders1 does this as a service too should you wish to have it removed.

However, I'm sure you can pick up a spare or a pattern part. Plenty of vRS's being broken at the minute.

Don't these get noisy due the casing coming apart? I remember fixing one many moons ago for somebody, vaugely remember drilling rivets out and using BA screws and nuts to re-secure and it was good as new

Are the pattern part ones ok? I'm the sort would rather have it there if it's meant to be there, but if a pattern part is going to fail after a few months a delete maybe the better option?

Mine has under 90k miles on it and I'm thinking any being broken would probably have more and likely not much life left in them???

Cheers for help and advice!

Does anyone know how rerivetting/screwing them back together fixes them, is it just that they're sealed again? This might be worth a try first

As I said above, I believe if its running and it's just noisy and rattling you can fix by rescuring the casing. Remove the failed rivets and fit some sort of machine scews/studding with nuts/whatever you can make work

If its dead then its probably failed electrically
