MK4 vRS FL in the UK?

Featured Replies

My local dealer is trying to get me into the new MK4 vRS facelift from my current MK4 vRS, but doesn't have one in stock that I can view and says they aren't starting UK builds until the middle of this month.

Has anyone in the UK seen one in the flesh before placing an order?

I'm a bit apprehensive about placing an order without seeing one first.

Cheers

Not UK though.

Unless the sales person is lying and they are building them for the UK how would anyone have seen one.

Thanks Ootohere I'm aware of Arturps thread but didn't want to hijack it, because as you spotted it's not in the UK.

I wouldn't go as far as to say the dealer was lying, but they have known to be mistaken on many occasions. Also, surely dealers get demonstrators in before general orders are taken?

Why such a discount on new factory orders not available to March 2025?

Like every other release, you're probably going to struggle to get 100% accurate information that you could bet on: some of us have been told that our order have been built, some are still waiting. What is clear, is that there are no UK based reviews out yet, which would suggest some coordinated marketing type thing (as UK is a big buyer of Octavia's, incl vRS models), so probably expect YouTube reviews to drop in the next few weeks and test models to show up soon after. Take with a pinch of salt obv

They're giving out big deposit contributions, that coupled with the pretty big equity I have in my MK4 is what's temping me, monthly payments are coming out cheaper for the MK4 FL!

Are they just having to limit / ration the First Registration of ICE vehicles until the VW Group are certain they have 22 % of BEV,s first registered in 2024, but they want the orders.

£15,000 it costs them for every car sold if they and the partners miss the 22%.

Then there is the UK Fleet Average Co2 emissions to be met or that is another  penalty.

There needs to be plenty low emissions and electrified models being first registered.

I know it is NOT the uk, but I am collecting my Irish one tomorrow. Would have thought the spec would be very similar to UK one - at least the pedals are on the correct side...

Not sure I believe your dealer.

I wouldn't believe them if they told me the grass was green. I have had many bad experiences with them, but I'm hoping I can use their offer as some leverage with other dealers around me 👍🏼  Be sure to share some pics of yours when you pick it up!

as above I think they are staging builds and reviews

a few weeks ago we had loads of chinese/taiwanese only reviews

then last week ALL the germans reviews dropped onto you tube in a day

so at some point I would expect the uk journalists have already driven them and their will be a set date when all the reviews will pop up

it certainly seem that uk orders have seemed to hit their build weeks in late october and early to mid november

I can see why they would do them in batches with ours being right hand steering, and probably a different base spec

also I had no real problems with ordering one unseen

this will be be my fifth one..you know roughly what you are getting , then dont mess with the formula much

it it was a car I was new too then yes I would want a good look, I had 4 golf gtis as well and the first time I moved to one was one I test drove..after that...no need, they dont change that much either

UK based journalists might well have driven ones overseas, left hand drive, have an embargo date before they can release their review.

The issue with that, or the 3 or so top Irish Vlogger / Reviewers are they are left hand drive cars.

Rather different in a left hand drive using the centre screen and buttons or controls and being right handed than a right hand drive car and being right handed.

I get annoyed when there are right hand drive cars and the reviewers use the Screen in the middle of the car while stationery.

Lets see how the touch screen is with the car moving and changing or choosing stuff.

& let us see how the Voice controls are in English with various regional dialects once you choose ENGLISH UK and not ENGLISH US.

Too many make comments about stuff being slow but there will be a fix.

Well SKODA / VW Group sell them and the buyers can whistle for these FIXES.

..........

A Briskoda member and tells it as it is.

& drives various Skoda models often long term.  Respect!

agreed, Timroadie is a sound bloke

and I think the advantage of the octavia over the golf is the screen sits a bit lower so its never blocks the dash like the large screen does on the golf

Just a titbit I noticed in one of the German videos, obviously take with a pinch of salt as it's the YouTube comments section. AGA I think is just an abbreviation of Abgasanlage, German for exhaust system:

Seen a couple of vids now , looks like there is mild dsg farting and some pops and burbles in sport

Picked mine up - will share some pics when I get the chance to take them. Very happy. Doesn't seem to have the sound actuator, at least I could not find any setting for turning off in the indivusal mode. It sounds OK, still a lot quieter than my really old GTI, but much more comfortable. It is quick, but doesn't feel it as much as the GTI!

Good to hear mate!

Interesting about the sound actuator, I just replied on the other thread about the FL and the UK brochure specifically lists the "vRS electronic engine sound" as standard equipment 🤷🏽‍♂️

There is always a bit of tinkering with different markets, but hopefully we don't have the rattle box in the dash @Shelvock!

Skoda UK have confirmed the UK spec cars do indeed have the fake engine noise generator 😭

😐 but...not sure I want a virtual orchestra effect 🎺🎻 a bit frustrating, but not a deal breaker. On review videos, it looks like the interface is quite speedy with switching functions/driving modes.

On second thoughts though, why have the majority of markets NOT got the rattle box sound, but GB has?! What kind of focus group nonsense would ask for it?!

It's putting me off an order now, as the neither confirm the UK is getting the upgraded sports exhaust system itself, and no dealers anywhere near me have one in stock to check. Good chance I'll be sticking with my current Mk4, at least I have been able to code out the rattle box on mine, but perhaps it's time for some new wheels and a remap 😁

Surely the exhaust isnt a part they are going to swap out for different markets, sound actuator I just always switched to individual so I got sport with no sound

Not heard or read anything about changing of exhaust for the GB market, just the sound actuator thingie. Like you @Gingernick70, often just switch it into individual

I just read the Irish sales brochure and it doesn't mention sports exhaust on that either. So if it's fitted to that maybe they're just not mentioning it. Why would you fit a sound actuator with a sports exhaust though? 🤔

I think there were a couple of Merc models that had both sports exhaust and sound actuator a couple of years ago, but it's defo a weird move. It looks like there was a press review event on Isle of Man in the last day or so, so expect reviews to land shortly.
