Has it happened again?

Featured Replies

Well - I said I'd do some testing on my private road home - so on a suitable stretch I floored it in fifth...

100 came up nice and quick, 110 not much after, 120 trickled up, then as I was approaching 125 (slowly) - silent "CLICK!" - and boost was all gone - total, nothing, zilch, apart from a rapid deceleration from 120 to 80, still having my foot on the floor.

So, me worried, seriously, as this was exactly the same thing that happened when I needed the new turbo - It kept cutting out electronically and I'd suddenly be driving an sDI... or worse.

Well, once I slowed to 80 I killed the ignition, restarted the engine, and boost was back as expected, and I floored it again to see if I could replicate the fault. I was able to boot it back up to 95, but I felt I shouldn't push my luck and kept it down to an 80mph cruise. And the turbo kept itself boosting, and some minor lane / B road booting in 2nd/3rd/4th didn't cause the fault again. When I had the first problem with the turbo cutting, it needed little more than a dab of the throttle for it to cut out, so I'm happy this is not serious.

What I think? (and someone correct me if I'm talking sh!te) but I think as I hit 125mph'ish, something told the turbo to stop boosting. I got past the old limited speed of 115 fairly easily, but keeping my foot on the floor at 120ish for a good two minutes DID something... what? Well I know it cut the turbo out, that's all I know TBH.

Any further thoughts would be welcome.

Oh, and I do not believe Jabbasport have anything to do with this. I just wanted to emphasise that!

Well - more testing this morning on my way to work - various floorings in third & fourth, a bit of "join faster traffic" fifth gear bootings.

And the turbo never cut or seemed to lose any power. So, I'm satisifed the car is still performing the way it should and I needn't worry about the little glitch last night... Oh, and I may not bother taking it over 110 for a while... :(

Was this with your liftshare lass in the car?

Ask your dealer to check for error codes. Even if the CEL is not lit, there may be a code stored.

Yep! :D

Well... If she's not used to the way I drive by now. I have been curious as to why she seems to shut her eyes every now and then, and those claw marks in the passenger door handle have had me flummoxed for some time now. ;)

Never pushed it past 120 (on a test track of course) so I havent experienced the same Jason. Still reckon mine would have done 130 easily. :)

Strange symptoms as I would expect the car to do this at the same rpm in all gears if it were a problem...
