Hey all

 

I intermittently get a bunch of faults occur at the same time, usually it disappears after the next time I start the car.

 

(Octavia Vrs Mk3)

 

Doesn't appear to be weather dependent, and doesn't seem to have a pattern 

 

Anyway, based on the fault codes, I'm thinking it's a faulty ABS sensor that then triggers the other faults, either that or some strange Canbus issue.

 

Any thoughts, before I pull the trigger on a new ABS sensor?

Check the wiring on the RHR ABS sensor. And check that the chopper disc is clean.

All those systems need speed information, so I agree with Paws4Thot.

Just replaced a faulty ABS sensor. Also had a lot of errors in different subsystems due to it, all of them disappeared when I fitted a new one.

 

Funny thing is that even rear parking sensors didn't work. Just got a long beep when reversing and no sensor display or warnings.

Parking sensors are only active below a certain speed, so with a faulty ABS sensor they don't get accurate/correct speed information so they are also disabled.

 

Basically any system that needs speed information is disabled when an ABS sensor is faulty.

It began with a tyre pressure warning, but when I checked them all tyres were spot on. The a crop of other warnings on my Fabia: ABS, Front Assist, Skid Control etc etc. The front and rear parking sensors were no longer working, but apart from that the car drove normally (though carefully!).

The local garage found one faulty wheel speed sensor in a front wheel. That one fault discombobulated the system and resulted in lots and lots of entirely spurious fault warnings. I consider it a design fault if the failture of one specific sensor can trigger a crop of irrelevant fault warnings in the whole software.

I don't, they all rely on data produced from that sensor so cannot function without it, the warnings are far from irrelevant, would you prefer to not know that your ABS is inoperative and to find out how frighteningly overservoed the braking system is without ABS when you skid into the obstacle that caused you to do an emergency stop?

There I would disagree with you; the speed sensors are the common factors used by all your cited systems.

Just to update, fitted new rear-right ABS speed sensor, so far all good with approx 2000km since the fix
