Paint Protection Film

Featured Replies

I'm going to get through quite a few miles a year in my new Fabia (commute of 120 a day all motorway). seeing as I have the black pearlesent paint I'm a bit worried that my shiny new car is going to look knackered with stone chips after about two weeks so was considering the clear paint protection film that they fit to Lambo's and Enzos. I think it will come in at about 300 notes for the bumper and bonnett.

Anybody had any experience with this stuff or any dealers that do it in Essex?

Matt

Don't do it is my simple answer!!

The supposed UK dealer for the 3M film is in Nazing which isn't far from you. Armourfend is the name.

I had a nightmare with it when I had my Subaru done.

thanks guys, prob better off spending the cash on a re-spray when it needs it and avoid tailgaiting gritter trucks!

Another vote to not bother. My car valeter at work strongly suggested not to bother as the film could cause a difference in how much the paint fades over time. I do 100 miles/day roundtrip to work plus picking up SWMBO from Oxford so doing a comfortable 600 miles/week. I've got several stone chips now, 46k on the clock (05 reg). I will look into chips away or similar companies at some point next year though, getting it sorted a bit.

It's pretty much impossible not to get stone chips unless you're lucky. Annoyingly the black magic shows it up rather well/badly.

Had a call from the place today, they dont have a VRS template to use but are keen to get one from mine, if I take mine down for the whole day they can do me a supposed

Why not get a bonnet bra ?

A mate of mine had this applied to his 360 Ferrari and wasn't too pleased.

Yes you could clearly see the join and it lifted in various places.

I personally wouldn't even be tempted to 'film protect' my VRS.

I paid a significant ammount of money to have my Scooby done, i had every possible template that they had - Door handles, turbo scoop, rear arches, boot access the whole lot.

It resulted in me taking them to court not only for the cost of the film but also the cost of the respray on my bonnet following the damage they caused.

It doesn't stop stone chips and when you do get a chip it looks worse than it would had you chipped the paint.

Save you money and get the bonnet painted when required.

Cheers guys, plenty more things I could spend 300 quid on.

VRStu sorry you had so many problems mate

I just look upon it as a lesson learnt, one which I hope no one else will have to go through.
