ODB scanners - ODBeleven, Carista etc for Airbag light fix

Featured Replies

I am pretty new to Skoda and I have bought a Skoda superb Mk2 with a known fault - fairly common door loom problem - the wires have sheared off in the drivers door.

I have managed to put new wire in to the main broken wires but a couple are like floss and tight as hell so need to get a new loom eventually.

The airbag light is on now and I assume its a crash sensor in said wiring perhaps but MOT is due so want to clear it till I get the door off and get a new loom so I thought Ill look at these ODB things.

I have not had cars new enough for these before :D

I believe you can get Carista and ODB eleven types and wondered which one to get just to clear the airbag fault really but maybe future options to have a play.

The car has all kinds of features already turned on I believe as it is an elegance model estate 2011.

It is an absolutely lovely car btw, very happy and not as thirsty as a 60s Daimler or as cold as a Morris Minor :D

If I would buy just one "for them all", I would go either Icarsoft CR Max or Topdon Artidiag BT800. But if only VAG cars, then it is just one that is superb and also supported; VCDS Hex-V2 or Hex-NET. It all comes down to how much you will use a top notch scan tool and how serious a DIY you are/will become.

My personal opinion is, that anyone and I mean anyone, that will drive a VAG product, even only for a couple of years (vehicle outside warranty) MUST aquire VCDS (3, 10 or Unlimited VINS). They are not expensive at all. Maybe 3-500 GBP.
