Reverse lights not working - not the usual suspects involved

Featured Replies

Hello folks, I'm new here as a user, but did read this forum for some years now. And today I come to you for help.

My reverse lights are not working and neither the parking sensors. The car has no error associated with this issue and generally everything else works. So let me walk you through all that went so far.

History: the issue appeared first time about a year ago as a rare intermittent thing, later it became more often and I noticed that it was usually associated with rainy days or with the times when I washed the car.

Troubleshooting so far: Took out the air box and inspected the wires and the reverse sensor on the gear box, they all work well. Used VCDS to activate the reverse lights and sensors and they worked fine. Today I inspected the space under the wiper grille and I found a very damp space right to the center of the car. I took out the front connector from the module placed there and reviewed the cables a bit, bot nothing standing out.

Now I need to move forward but I'm a bit lost. Has anyone experienced something similar, and if so, how did you solve it? Also, does anyone know what that module next to the wiper mechanism is?

Thank you in advance for all your answers.

Replacement wiring loom was needed to fix on mine (notes from previous owner after changing the switch first didn't cure it).

No I'm afraid not, just that it was the wiring/connector at fault and not the switch.
