DPF Regeration Intervals

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

1. Just wondering how often the DPF Regenerates on your Diesel Octavia.

2. What additives, if any, do you use in the Diesel to help in regens etc.

Maris

Hi,

2.0 tdi (ea288, CUNA), 240 kkm, 50-50 city/highway. Approx. Every ~300 km. Some times intervall is shorter. I guess it depends how it has been driven after last one (cold short city trips vs highway).

No additives.

Generally agree. Roughly once every tank of fuel but it always depends on your driving style and where you are driving.

If you use basic diesel fuel, it is worth either putting in some super diesel to keep the EGR and DPF in good condition or use a small amount of cetane improver in your fuel (improves burn cycle, keeps EGR/DPF clean and better mpg)

It seems I'm about normal, with a regen every 200Kms. I use Australian made Fuel Doctor, 50mls every tank and 200mls of Jaso FC 2SO. Occasionally I will substitute Liqui Moly DPF Anti Clog and sometimes Liqui Moly Clean and Boost.

The Scout has done 120,000kms and I've never seen a DPF light.

Additional info.

I experienced regens every 200km or less and was frequently forced to extend my journey or go straight back out again after returning home and switching off hearing the fans running to allow the regen to complete, if not it would be trying on every subsequent journey even from cold which was crackers.

Concerned about the wasted fuel, the bore wash and oil dilution I paid to have the "emissions fix" rolled back to the previous "cheating" software.

My car now regens every 1000km on the dot, the only way I know it has happened or when it will happen is through VCDS measuring blocks, I have heard the fans running after shutdown just once in the last 3 years, a coincidence that it was doing the 1000km regen when I stopped.

It doesn't even change the engine note when regenning like it did before.

'2016 2.0 TDI 110kW, 175k km.

Regens happens every 4th day and continues 20min. 3/4 city drive, 50...70km each day average.

In winter she regens more often.

No fuel additives- just Neste ProDiesel.

Thanks for your response.

I have the same engine and the same regen intervals. It just seems like a lot.

Hello Indars,

I am not from Latvia but my Father was, from the Kuldiga area.

He met and married my Mother in a DP Camp in Wedel, Germany at the end of the war, then emigrating to Australia. I am the only one from this Family who was born in Australia.

There are not many Maris in Australia, but I do see the name from time to time.

It appears that we both share the same Skoda. Mine is 2.0L TDI, 110Kw, 6M.

Yes, Maris Janis typical Latvian.

Regards

Maris
