Any advice on the below welcomed.

 

My mk1 Octavia broke down for the first time this week, in over 10years of  ownership. Was running fine but went to restart, after stopping to pick someone up and it failed to start. 
 

RAC called out, fuel is coming through, glow plugs ok, battery ok. The engine fires for a second but doesn’t continue to catch. RAC thought it could be the engine speed sensor? Tried to bump start but this also failed. 


Car is currently parked up at my local garage, any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated.
