Roomster tailgate power supply issues.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently had trouble with unlocking the boot of my 2006 Roomster, I checked the wiring where it joins the door pillar and found a broken ground and split cables.

Being thorough I got a complete new loom, after fitting nothing worked except the washer pump.

The locking system returned to normal after I had replaced the button assembly (found out the original one was ok afterwards) and a day later the rear wiper motor returned to life.

However my license plate lights and top brake light will not work, I've already changed the festoon bulbs and checked the loom with a continuity checker just to make sure it wasn't a bad loom but it all checks out fine.

I checked the voltage supply yesterday at the connector in the door pillar and found its near nothing, about 0.05v.

I have checked the fuses and replaced one which had blown earlier, I was thinking it might be a control module issue, but i'm now completely stumped.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Any pointers would be gratefully received.

Ben

I've nicked this picture from another thread but I think I would be inspecting this plug and earthing point.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice, I checked the loom with a multimeter and the socket on the main loom side, there seems to be a lack of power coming from the car, as both the license plate lights and the brake light wont work and the motor for the wiper worked then didnt when I tried the next day. I changed out the comfort module which didn't change anything except make the door open light not work properly.

I'll have another look at the socket and give it a good contact clean just in case.

Its definitely an odd problem so hopefully it may be something unusual that may be the solution.

Ok, got back into the car again today trying to find the cause of the problems, went through the loom again, everything is all working fine, checked the connector on the loom, and the lower connector.

had an eureka moment after cleaning the pins of the plug when I found a couple of them were loose in the lower plug and were being pushed down when the loom plug was connected.

Refitted them in and hey presto, wiper motor works, license plate lights work

The only thing now to sort out is the door warning light which is on when all the doors are closed and then after a short while goes out, I think its a cluster glitch so will try changing it out at some point.
