miltek or blue flame exhaust

Featured Replies

just wondering what peoples thoughts were as am unsure which system to go for to be honest, plus is it really worth spending the funds on the full systems or is there a better product anyone knows of?

Both systems are good quality, you'll get the biggest benefits by going for a full system really. The OEM exhaust is very good quality too, although of course more restrictive (slightly) and it's standard ;)

Whether it's worth the money, hard to say. What are you after mainly? If it's a better handling car the Jabbasport rear ARB is an excellent investment, ditto for Eibachs etc.

The rear ARB transforms the handling during cornering but it changes the character of the car a lot too. You'll definitely want to have a drive in one if possible ;)

Blueflame ;)

I've nothing against Milltek and haven't seen either Fabia vRS system, but from past experience of Blueflame's exhausts I'll be going for another one of them for the Fabia.

Just out of interest, what do parafin burners sound like with a sports system on..?

(cue torrents of abuse from diesel owners:O )

I wondered myself about the back box - or whole exhaust off a Ibiza cupra tdi - looks a similar shape to the blue flame and its a vag part, has anyone put one of these on?

Full Milltek (designed on my old car no less ;) )

Something worth noting:- I was told by a well known tuner that if your Fabia vRS has a KKK turbo & free-flowing turbo back exhaust, the boost tends run away @ the top end causing the ECU to hit limp mode.

Doesn't do it with Garret turbos, just the KKK's for some reason.

KKKs are also regularly refused for exchange purposes, so I was told. One of such refusals I got when I tried to get my hybrid sorted out.

All Fabia vRS in the UK (to the best of my knowledge, based on posts here) have KKK turbos as standard.

Dunno why Garrett ones wouldn't cause it though, perhaps more safety margin built in or something?

Regards the tuner - can't they tweak that out by not maxing out the turbo so close to design limits, i.e. reduce requested boost a little sooner when at high(est) revs? Just thinking out loud, not had any experience with this ;)

When mine was remapped, the turbo was holding the boost @ the top end & hitting limp mode even with a standard exhaust.

It was cured by trimming the boost right back @ around 3.5K rpm ( I hardly ever take it past this point anyway). You could bump up the ECU's safety margin before hitting limp mode, but this wasn't an option I wanted.

With the addition of a full free-flowing exhaust, this allows the turbo to spin up quicker & allows the turbo run away again.

I think older vRS (pre-2005 models) have Garrets, but I could be wrong.

(cue torrents of abuse from diesel owners:O )[/quote'](Blueflame) They sound like a diesel when driving normally, but when the turbo kicks in there's a higher pitch (but loud) noise from the turbo probably, and a deeper noise at the same time. Its nice :)

Every Fabia ive seen has the KKK turbo on it inc my old one (2004my).

Its alignment is different to the Garrett as fitted to the Golf PD as the outlet to the intercooler is in a different place.

Thanks for that, it was meant to be a serious question, just wondered what they sounded like..........

Thanks for that' date=' it was meant to be a serious question, just wondered what they sounded like..........[/quote']lol no worries. My mate who hates the sound of diesels and anything related to diesels was impressed by the noise. When driving normally, obviously the chugging's still there, but the turbo sounds more high pitched

I reckon my (BF) exhaust sounds subtle but more sporty when pushing it hard. The beauty (for me/us) is that it's not too loud (I drive it at reasonable pace regularly)..

I suppose it depends how loud you want, straight through works too ;)

I stand corrected then!:D
